So sonicdork is currently working on a few rock related items….

The Brothers Gore - “Paper Yachts & The Reasons For The Whiskey”. This will be released this fall and it’s looking like the CD release will be in Athens, GA in October. Actual date - you’ll get it this week. This is being released as a reissue (since it took so damn long to release in the first place) complete with demos and more.
I’ve spent some time this Saturday evening/Sunday morning digitizing live videos from the mighty rock band once known as The Most. Hope you enjoy.

So Kristen is taking a trip down to Atlanta to visit friends and Hans and I are going to kick it Father and Son style in Jersey City/NYC this holiday weekend. This means many different things.

What’s Going On in the Wild World Of sonicdork?

Scored tickets to see the Boss in Jersey in May. Hooray.
My Mom and Sister came to visit the big city and we had an amazing time.
Been blipping like crazy. Blip.fm is fantastic. Twitter for music dorks, of course I would quickly jump on board.
I have developed a deep love for Rachel Maddow. Her show….brilliant. In last night’s show she referenced both “Hamster On A Piano” and Schoolhouse Rock. I love the one-two punch of Olbermann and Maddow. Real news is a great thing.
New sonicdorkcast coming this weekend. Another “sonicdork promise” between work and um….blipping…..I’ve been slacking. Thanks to Athensmusicjunkie for pointing this out to me.
Also, if you happen to be an Alum of Radford University and you’re reading this?? 1) I’m with you on the loss to UNC (but really, we knew it was coming) and 2) Read these updates at NewRiverVoice about all of the budget changes and the removal of the Math Major?!?!?!?!?! Really guys? Who needs math? Math can’t really help us in these times of economic crisis…..that doesn’t require numbers, does it?

I walked by a woman today that looked exactly like Kip Winger… beard and all. So convincing that I kind of wonder if it was actually Kip. She wasn’t flashing a hairy chest though.

Winger was always such a fucking joke. How could anyone claim to like rock and roll and actually say they’re a Winger fan? Wasn’t it in the “Nothing Else Matters” video (and also on the Year and a Half In The Life Of Metallica documentary) where Lars is using a picture of Kip as a dartboard?…. This reminds me of the days of hosting The Big Hairball on 105.3 The Bear. We played the HAIR “GREATS”….your Crue…GNR…Poison…Cinderella… and always made fun of the White Lions…the Wingers… the Mr. Bigs..

Winger fans can’t hold a candle to Dokken fans. Those guys = pure dedication. So dedicated that even if they currently weigh 280 pounds, they will still squeeze into that large Dream Warriors tour shirt for the show… I saw this with my own eyes when I saw Dokken and Poison (for free…never paid for a Poison show) in 2000. The smallest Dokken shirts on the largest Dokken fans. True f’n dedication.

Don Dokken was also completely in love with himself.

If Don Dokken could clone Don Dokken just for the purpose of having sex with Don Dokken, then Don Dokken would do just that. Oh, and did I mention he is the greatest songwriter in the world? Dylan who? Lennon and McCart…who? After every single song, Dokken would take a second to reflect on just how fucking awesome that last song was. “You know who wrote that one? ME!!! Don Dokken!”
