The meeting of minds between Elton John, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder & Gladys Knight that produced 1985’s fantastic cover of the Bacharach/Bayer Sager tune “That’s What Friends Are For” was not a one time occurrence. In fact, the Friendship Committee convenes once every year to provide guidance to troubled world leaders, have a secret charity slumber party (with just the four of them plus Taylor Dayne) and to advise keyboard manufacturers on how to create more realistic harmonica sounds.
