goodnight tony soprano…

It’s sad to see one of your all-time favorite shows go away. I let out a gigantic sigh after hearing the theme song end….Tony gets out of his SUV…and it goes to the logo.

I’ve thought about the ending all night long. [note: if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t read] Kristen and I thought that Hans (our dachshund) had stepped on the remote when the screen went black at the end. My father thought his TV died…. and that was it. Meadow’s running into the diner to join A.J., Carmela, and Tony for a family meal. Tony talks with Carmela about the latest news that Carlo definitely flipped and that RICO charges against Tony are seemingly imminent. There’s also the Italian gentleman walking into the bathroom, looking like he’s ready to set up a hit that he learned from Michael Corleone…. there’s the “gangstas” by the jukebox who could’ve also been hired to off Tony. But we never know….. Journey is the last artist that we get in The Sopranos. “Don’t Stop Believing” is the last song…. it abruptly ends with “don’t stop..”

Maybe it went black as soon as Tony was shot. We’ll never know. As much as I feel that Chase could’ve given it a better ending (hell a fade out with them eating would have worked for me), I don’t hate the ending anymore. It’s growing on me. It almost fits the Sopranos, or at least the version of the show we’ve watched for the past few seasons. Seasons 1-4 will always be tops in my book.

I’m going to watch the finale again this week….and who knows….maybe I’ll stop bitching and start to enjoy what Chase tried to do.

…..or maybe it’s all open for a movie……
