catching up with tumblr…and strange boys in the ranks of the salvation army.
We love Moe’s. I’m not just saying that because I’ve been attempting to get a position with them. I’m saying it because it’s true. I can’t stop eating the stuff. Kristen is back on the Moe’s train as well, after about a year sabbatical. She’s really into the tacos……or should I say…The Funk Meisters… More meat. Cheese. Manageable. Heaven in a soft taco shell….. I’m still waaaay into the burrito. Imagine that.
So we went to Moe’s for lunch last week, and Kristen wore her brand new houndstooth coat. It’s very 60’s….. it’s sexy….and Kristen wasn’t sure she wanted to keep it at that point. She was worried that it was “too much”. She obsessed that it was too much. I kept brushing the idea aside because I thought she looked great in it, and yes, it was seriously sexy in a “you’re gonna make it after all” kinda way. So….. we’re walking out of Moe’s and we pass a young man that has been employed as a “bell shaker” for the Salvation Army. God bless him. As we past him he says….
“Have a Merry Christmas you two!”
…………..quickly followed by……
“WOW!!!!!!”
Kristen nervously asks, “What was the wow for???” To which I reply….”Maybe he’s just saying ‘wow, that’s a smart jacket.’” Kristen won’t let it go….she KNOWS he was talking about her jacket. Paranoia strikes deep.
I circle around the parking lot, pull out $2 from my wallet for the Salvation Bucket, and ask the kid……….”When you said ‘wow’ just a minute ago….was it about my wife’s jacket?”
Wide-eyed, the kid replyed, “I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it!!! It messes with my eyes!!! It was like an illusion!!! Like one of those…..uhhh……ummm…..uhhh…”
“Magic eye posters?… where you see the sailboats and shit?”
“YEAH!!!!!! I didn’t mean any offense…. but the jacket MOVES ON ITS OWN!”
I thank the autistic child for his time and walk back to give Kristen the good news.
She can never rid herself of the jacket now. It has too much history….. and it entertains bell shakers. WOW!
