You’re little. You hit puberty. You start to sweat…. more…. and more.. and to fend off the stink, you use deodorant. Typically your Mother will end up buying your deo for you with the regular grocery trips, and you grow up using a certain brand. For me, that brand has been Suave. Yes, I can tell you’re already laughing. Over the past few years, Kristen has taken it upon herself to let me know that I smell like a girl… I called bullshit. Suave is a man’s deodorant. A few weeks ago she took the opportunity to again inform me that Suave is a woman’s deodorant. Bullshit. Plenty of men use Suave. Why would my mother buy me woman’s deodorant????
Last night, after returning from visting my family in Virginia, I made a realization…. while lying in bed, waiting for Kristen to get out of the bathroom, I glanced over at the new Suave deodorant I had purchased last week…. I notced a sticker that had never been on my powder fresh deo before…”More Sweat Fighting Ingredients Than Secret.” What the fuck? Isn’t Secret “strong enough for a man but made for a woman?” I pulled the sticker off to examine it closer…. and underneath the first sticker was a second sticker that read…..

They wouldn’t write something like that on deodorant for a man. That settled it. I was using (and still am…. until it runs out…I use all parts of the buffalo..) woman’s deodorant. “Suave” always had such a manly sound to me…..
